Citizens Bank Experiences 'Intermittent' Online Problems
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Like most banks, Citizens Bank touts its online features, encouraging customers to check their accounts online and to make mortgage payments, credit card payments and other bill payments through an easy-to-navigate personalized system online.
But recently that important service has been disrupted by repeated unspecified computer failures, bank officials confirm.
"We are experiencing intermittent issues with our online bill paying feature," bank spokesperson Sylvia Bronner told KDKA Money Editor Jon Delano. "We're actively working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. It does not affect our mobile banking from smart phones."
Citizens has 1,500 banks in 12 states with 228 branches in western Pennsylvania.
The current problem was reminiscent of similar issues last October which primarily affected Citizens' online banking.
Bank officials on Tuesday could not predict when full service would be restored.
