Chris Peak Discusses Direction Of Pitt Football Program
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - With Pitt heading into the Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl as underdogs to Bowling Green and losing out on the top recruit in Western Pennsylvania, Panther Lair's Chris Peak joined Starkey, Miller and Mueller to talk about the direction Head Coach Paul Chryst has this program headed.
"I think he's (Paul Chryst) got a plan, and he's committed to it," Peak said. "It doesn't rely on shortcuts if you want to look at the junior college guys like that. I don't think they're 100 percent opposed to junior college players, but I don't think they're going to go out of their way for them. I think they want to build something for the long-term the only problem for fans who watch the team is that there might be another year like this year or last year in the mean time before that long-term plan comes to fruition."
When it comes to losing out on top-recruit Dravon Henry, Peak says it's not great news for Pitt considering who he chose over them, but it doesn't crush their recruiting class as a whole.
"There's no way to spin it, it's a bad turn for Pitt," Peak told us. "That program down 79 (WVU), what did they go 4-8 this season? They have a head coach with all kinds of speculation about what the status of his job security and where he'd be if he didn't have an enormous buyout."
