Chris Huston: Pitt's Donald Deserving Of Heisman Consideration
PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan) -- Pitt defensive lineman Aaron Donald has played his last regular season game, but there are several high profile awards that he is in consideration for.
Chris Huston of NBCSports.com said that there are a lot of players that are worthy of receiving consideration for the Heisman Trophy, including Donald.
"I think he's definitely deserving," Huston told KDKA's Bob Pompeani. "I think the most rational way to look at it is if a guy like Manti Te'o could get to the Heisman ceremony last year, I certainly think a guy like Aaron Donald should be considered very seriously."
Pompeani asked Huston about the number of quarterbacks who have won the Heisman Trophy, and Huston said that it's an evolution of the game with spread offenses.
"They're touching the ball on every play. They're running the ball, they're passing the ball, they're putting up huge numbers and that's why they're winning Heismans," Huston said. "When you put up incredible numbers in these types of systems, you're going to win the Heisman. It's very rare for a running back or for another position to break through in this type of era."
