Child Calls 911, Saves Dad And Grandma High On Heroin
NEW BRIGHTON, Pa. (KDKA) – A 10-year-old boy called 911 and possibly saved the life of his father and grandmother, who police say had passed out in a bathroom while doing heroin.
Just after 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Beaver County emergency dispatcher 661 listened as a little boy named Damian told her that his father and grandmother were both unconscious; both overdosed on heroin.
Ginger Fay Foust, 52, wanted to tell the truth.
"See, I used to do crack. I was a crack addict for years. I mean like 17, 18 years," she said.
But Foust says that she had been drug free for 14 months until her son, 34-year-old Chad Kiser, brought heroin into her apartment on Fourth Avenue in New Brighton.
"My son and I, we went in the bathroom, and we both done some," Foust said.
As KDKA was interviewing Foust, her son lurched into the living room.
"This is my son right here," she introduced him.
Kiser had nothing to say. When he returned to the bedroom, his mother continued to describe what led to Damian's call for help.
"And his daddy was out. His daddy couldn't talk or anything," she said.
She says Chad passed out first on the bathroom floor. She tried to revive him with ice cubes and milk.
"And all of a sudden, I couldn't move," Foust said. "And they said I was foaming at the mouth and stuff. So then, I just kind of lost it."
Foust can barely remember her grandson talking to her.
"Gigi, Gigi come here a minute… Gigi get up! And I told him, 'Damian, I'm talking to you," she said. "He said, 'You talking to me, but you can't move.'"
That's when the boy got scared and called 911. They were taken to a hospital.
"I'm proud of my grandson. I'm very round of my grandson," Foust said. "He saved our lives."
Foust says she's going to get clean again. She says Saturday's incident scared the living life out of her. But she regrets what her grandson had to witness.
"It's sad; it's horrible," she said. "I hate it."
Damian, 10, is now with County Children and Youth Services. His father and grandmother are charged with endangering the welfare of a child and possession of drug paraphernalia.
