Chase Suspect Arrested After Car Runs Out Of Gas
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- What started as a suspected hit-and-run, turned into a police chase in Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
The suspect appeared to be combative, particularly after cameras arrived, when he was arrested on Negley Avenue near Wilkins Avenue on Wednesday afternoon.
The police pursuit ended when the white sports car ran out of gas just after climbing and then descending Negley Hill.
Police were first alerted to the car within Police Zone 5 in the city's East End when they got a call that the car had hit another car.
As the pursuit ended up in Squirrel Hill, a woman who was with the man was also taken into custody.
Police considered child endangerment charges because at the time the car finally stopped, a toddler - possibly around 2-years-old, was found not properly fastened in a car seat.
Children Youth and Family Services were notified and have been asked to help sort out the circumstances that put the toddler in that situation.
