17-year-old charged for making threats against Chartiers Valley School District, authorities say
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A 17-year-old boy has been charged after making threats to the Chartiers Valley School District, authorities said on Friday.
The Allegheny County Police Department said in a post on social media that the teenager was charged as a juvenile with terroristic threats and harassment. He was taken into custody on Friday evening.
County police said the 17-year-old was previously charged on Nov. 11 in connection with terroristic threats made to the district.
All students in the Chartiers Valley School District followed remote learning for Friday after a "concerning note" was found.
"Detectives determined the handwritten note in question was threatening in nature," county police said.
All students learned from home via Google Classroom and Infinite Campus on Friday. All Chartiers Valley School Buildings were closed.
The district also canceled all after-school events and activities, as well as transportation to all schools including private and parochial schools.
Following the threats earlier this month, students were moved to remote learning due to the credible threat. The juvenile was charged and the district said they were "experiencing a crisis and is now receiving the appropriate help and support they need."
