Charlie Morton Claims Beaning Of Shin-Soo Choo Not Intentional
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Charlie Morton took it upon himself on Tuesday to stand up for his teammates and bean Reds' leadoff hitter Shin-Soo Choo in the bottom of the first inning, but to hear it, Morton claims it was not on purpose.
When asked if he was just trying to pitch inside to start the game, he said, "Yep, pretty much. It wasn't the first pitch of the game, but the first pitch I threw. I mean, I gotta work him inside."
Morton also talked about what it has been like coming back from Tommy John surgery and what has been different for him.
"We worked on a lot of things. One of the things was simplifying my delivery, to become more efficient with my arm," he said. "I've always thrown that way, and it was something that needed to be addressed. I'm sure I'm never going to get it perfect, but I think we're making strides towards getting it right."
Morton also discussed his arsenal of pitches he can throw, how he has harnessed them and how much of pitching is between the ears.
