Charlie Batch, Harlem Globetrotter Deliver Anti-Bullying Message To Kids
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A Steel Valley alum teamed up with a Harlem Globetrotter Tuesday afternoon and delivered a message to some middle school kids
The message was heard loud and clear.
Not one, but two athletes came out to encourage youngsters to be the best they can be and to never bully anyone.
When Cheese Chisholm came into the gym at Steel Valley Middle School twirling the basketball on his finger, more than 300 fourth, fifth and sixth grade youngsters went wild.
He was joined by Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch and was made an honorary Harlem Globetrotter Ambassador of Goodwill for his community work through the Best of the Batch Foundation.
He was also given a jersey, but then came the reason for the gathering.
"If it is negative, take it out of your life. Stay away from drugs, alcohol anything that is negative you don't want it in your life. You want to stay positive and have a great attitude," Chisholm said. "The second reason why I came here today is to talk about bullying. It should never happen at all."
The youngsters were taught the ABC's of bullying: take action, be brave and have compassion.
It's an issue that is close to both Batch and Chisholm who said they were bullied as children.
