Charges Against Tender Care Worker Continue To Grow
SCOTT TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - It's been less than two weeks since police first filed sexual assault charges against an employee at a local daycare.
Since then, at least five more alleged victims have come forward. The victims have shared stories of abuse both inside the daycare facility and away from it.
Now, another alleged victim of Matthew Keith Byars has come forward.
Byars is an employee at the Tender Care Learning Center in Scott Township.
The latest alleged victim to come forward is now 13-years-old. He said these incidents happened on an ongoing basis when he was between the ages of seven and 10-years-old.
Byars was arrested earlier this month and charged with indecent assault, endangering the welfare of a child and several other charges after a 9-year-old boy came forward. The boy claimed Byars touched him inappropriately in May.
Now, another boy told an interviewer at Children's Hospital that Byars touched him back in 2008. He said the alleged incidents took place at Byars' home and at a church picnic at the Community House in South Park.
The victims said he initially told his parents at the time, but didn't reveal the full details during a forensic interview.
He also claimed he had been watching television on a couch at Byars home' when Byars allegedly began touching him in 2008.
While playing football at church event, Byars allegedly grabbed him over his pants as well.
Byars has been suspended from the Tender Care Learning Center pending a full investigation of all of the charges against him.
Including the latest victim, six different people have alleged similar incidents involving Byars.
