CBS Sports' Seth Davis: Pitt Hoops Has Tough Road Ahead
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - With the NCAA Tournament just around the corner, Seth Davis of CBS Sports and Sports Illustrated drops by with Vinnie & Cook on Sportsradio 93-7 The Fan.
Seth thinks the Pitt Panthers may have a tough test in their opening matchup against the Wichita State Shockers.
"I think very highly of Pittsburgh, but I also think pretty highly of Wichita State," Davis says. "They've had a pretty good year. It's going to be a rough-and-tumble Big East kind of game, and the first team to 40 [points] wins."
If Pitt gets past Wichita State, their next opponent will be the Gonzaga Bulldogs, which Davis believes poses more problems for the Panthers.
"The challenge that anyone's going to have to face against Gonzaga is that not only are you going to have to stop them, you're also going to have to outscore them," he said. "Neither of those things is very easy to do. Pitt doesn't have any single individual player who can go get you 30 [points]. Gonzaga's got three or four of those guys."
Still, Seth thinks very highly of Pitt head coach Jamie Dixon, and he explains why he thinks Dixon is recognized as one of the elite coaches in the country. Seth also looks around the rest of the tournament, sorts through some potential upset specials, and looks into the crystal ball for Kentucky.
