CBS NFL Insider Jason La Canfora On Ben Rumors: 'There Is Nothing To It'
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora joined The Fan Morning Show to put to rest the ideas that have been reported by the NFL Network that Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is seeking a trade.
"Could not be more incorrect," La Canfora said. Neither side has not even thought about a trade as a bargaining chip let alone asked for a deal. La Canfora said he is shocked that this has been the big story for the NFL Network for the past couple of weeks because "There is nothing to it."
La Canfora adds that eventually they are going to have to do a new deal with Ben but is that news? He said there is not even a need to restructure the deal this off-season. The cap number is big but nothing the Steelers can't handle. They don't have to do anything now, but would want to explore a deal before his final season.
La Canfora said it's no secret that everyone has been frustrated with the ups and downs of this offense and nobody knows for sure where this offense is heading. If they can't sustain anything on offense there will be changes but this team could still make the playoffs.
La Canfora also says the relationship between Ben and Offensive Coordinator Todd Haley are miles ahead of where it was last year, but it's not perfect.
"It's not butterflies and unicorns," La Canfora said.
He thinks the Steelers can still be alive for the playoffs and the division. He says whoever can string a couple of wins together out of the log jam for the final AFC playoff spot will be the one who takes it.
