Cavs Analyst Breaks Down Cleveland's View Of LeBron James
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) -- Cleveland Cavs Pre/Post Game host Jeff Phelps joined The Fan Morning Show Friday from our sister station 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland to talk about how the Cleveland fans are dealing with LeBron James winning his second NBA title.
"I gave it up after last year," Phelps said. "Last night I was rooting for the Spurs, where two years ago I was rooting against the Heat."
He said he has moved on like many fans in Cleveland. Some are still LeBron fans, while others won't let it go when he walked away from Cleveland and signed with the Heat in 2010.
He said many fans have a hard time dealing with this again today. James has now won his second title since leaving Cleveland. It stings a little more that he beat the Spurs this time -- a team he failed to beat in the NBA Finals when he was with the Cavs.
Phelps says he is not buying the words that James will return to the Cavs when his deal is up but that he should consider it. He says the Cavs will be in better shape than an aging Heat team and he will be looking for a shot to win a couple of more titles.
Phelps says that James answered all of his critics that doubted him, but he is not done.
"He wants to be the greatest player of all time or at least in the conversation," Phelps said.
Phelps, though, says he's not holding his breath that James will return to Cleveland, but if he wants to come back he would be welcomed still by the fans and the owner.
