Allegheny County Police Believe Multiple 7-Eleven Robberies May Be Related

CASTLE SHANNON (KDKA) - Allegheny County Police are investigating two early morning robberies at 7-Elevens, and they believe they may be connected.

According to South Fayette Police, the first robbery happened at the 7-Eleven on Boyce Road just after 2 Wednesday morning.

"He was dressed in a sweatshirt, hooded sweatshirt. He had a black ski mask, gloves, dark pants and dark shoes," South Fayette Police Detective James Jeffrey said.

Jeffrey said the 6-foot man took out a gun and demanded money from the cashier inside. The suspect took off with money and no one was injured.

According to Castle Shannon Police, a Black male wearing a mask and a dark hoodie walked into the 7-Eleven on Mt. Lebanon Boulevard around 3:15 a.m. with a gun and took money from customers in the store and the cash register. He ordered everyone onto the floor, then ran from the scene, getting away with about $380.

Castle Shannon Police and other agencies searched the area and were unable to find the suspect.

"They usually wait until someone's alone. That fact that they would go into a store where there were three other patrons is pretty brazen," Chief Truver said at the scene.

Police said no one was injured in this situation as well. Both Castle Shannon and South Fayette Police are working with Allegheny County Police.

"We'll take all the notes. Once we have obtained all the video surveillance, we'll sit down and obviously compare what we have going on and then we'll continue from there," Jeffrey said outside the South Fayette Police Department.

County police said there have been similar incidents in other parts of the county and are working with several agencies in their investigation.

Anyone with information on the robberies is asked to call the Allegheny County Police Tip Line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
