Carlos Beltran To The Pirates?
Pittsburgh (KDKA)- NY Mets outfielder Carlos Beltran improved his trade value last night by hitting a clutch 2-run HR vs. the St. Louis Cardinals.
Beltran and Houston outfielder Hunter Pence are the two biggest bats available on the trade market.
Here's the latest rumors involving Beltran:
*ESPN Baseball Insider Tim Kurkjian appeared on 106.7 "The Fan" in Washington D.C. and predicted Beltran will be traded to the Pirates. Kurkjian said, "If I had to guess, I think he'll go to the Pirates"
*According to Buster Olney, the Brewers are making calls about Beltran but might not have what it takes to acquire him.
*•Mets GM Sandy Alderson is currently narrowing the field of possible trade partners, according to Yahoo's Tim Brown. Since he's a 10/5 player, Beltran must approve any trade.
*Reportedly, the leading contenders for Beltran are the Phillies, Braves, Giants and Red Sox.
UPDATE (12:23 PM):
According to Buster Olney of ESPN, the Pirates have talked internally about pursuing David DeJesus, but it's unclear whether they will follow up aggressively with Oakland.
