Car Hits Rite Aid On Pittsburgh's South Side
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Cleanup efforts are under way after a car crashed into a drugstore on Pittsburgh's South Side.
The crash happened at the Rite Aid at the corner of 23rd and Jane Streets at about 2 p.m. Monday.
"It was kind of unbelievable and my first thought was, 'Is everyone alright?' and we had an office worker who called 911," Walt Sposkoski, who works nearby, said.
The car hit the front of the store by the registers – a close call for one of the clerks.
"She had just left the cash register to go look for a price check or something," Shelley Evans said.
Evans works at the neighboring Allegheny Children's Initiative and heard the accident.
The female driver told witnesses she thought the car was in neutral.
"She was, I think, startled but we were glad to see that she was okay," Evans said.
Zone 3 police are investigating the crash.
Rite Aid stayed open after the accident.
