Bylsma Reflects On Grueling October

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma was on The Fan Morning Show Wednesday to talk about the success the team has had so far this season.

After a grueling month of October, the team has gotten a few days to practice and recover before their next game tomorrow night in San Jose. Bylsma said this has been a time period the team has looked forward to.

"We really targeted this week and next week as that time after the month of October when we had so many games," Bylsma said. "I think it's 10 or 11 days and we'll get some good practices in. Some of the guys who've had some bumps and bruises will get some extra time off and hope that after this week-and-a-half, two weeks that we'll kind of settle into the season and have gotten some of the work in practice time that we need to have," Bylsma said.

One key to their success so far is the team's power play and penalty killing units.

"I think the thing we've done very well is special teams to this point in time. Our power play has gone at a pretty good clip. I think we're pretty close to 22 percent. It's definitely won us some games and we have been plus or even in the special teams game in every game so far to this point," Bylsma said.

Bylsma also talked about James Neal, the goaltending and how he and the rest of the team have dealt with injuries so well this season.
