Business Owners Struggling Because Of Ongoing Construction In Jeannette
JEANNETTE (KDKA) -- Jeannette business owners say they are struggling because construction is keeping away their customers.
An upgrade to the sewage system on Lowry Avenue has closed the busy thru-way for seven weeks already.
Construction is expected to continue for about two more weeks.
It comes at the same time as a PennDOT project on nearby Route 30 to update traffic lights and add turning lanes.
Business owners say they count on through traffic to survive.
The owner of Ricky's Pizza estimates that his business is down 70 percent.
The owner of Enrico's Bakery estimates his business is down 20 percent.
The owners of those businesses as well as many owners of other nearby businesses met Friday afternoon with a representative from the Pa. Small Business Association.
They are looking for guidance on how to survive these necessary growing pains.
