Burglary Suspect Runs Over Homeowner During Getaway

PLUM (KDKA) -- Plum Police are looking for a man who burglarized a home just before noon Friday in the Grovecrest Drive development, and struck the homeowner while trying to flee the scene of the crime.

Police say a woman was pulling into her driveway and saw a man she didn't recognize coming out of the front door of her house.

No one was supposed to be at home at the time.

The man jumped into a white SUV parked in the woman's driveway; and while driving off, he struck and ran her over.

Luckily, her injuries were non-life threatening.

Plum police said the SUV was stolen in the borough two weeks ago. It was a 2012 GMC Acadia.

Jewelry and an undetermined amount of money was taken from the house.

Todd Kelley, a next door neighbor, told KDKA-TV's Ralph Iannotti that he was walking his dog, and he saw a car "blow" through a stop sign. He described it as "tearing up the road."

Then, he said he saw police cars driving into the development. Only later, did he learn of the burglary at the home next door.

Family members of the woman who was run over said she was treated at a hospital and is now home resting.

The burglary suspect was white, about six-feet tall with neatly trimmed facial hair and he was wearing a baseball cap.
