Burger King's New 'French Fry' Burger Not A New Concept In Pittsburgh
NEW YORK (KDKA) - Burger King will unveil its newest sandwich, the French Fry Burger, on Sunday. The restaurant in Avalon shared samples with customers Wednesday afternoon.
"It's 'have it your way' at its finest," says marketing director Karla Mazza, "featuring a flame-broiled beef patty, with crispy French fries, lettuce, mayonnaise and ketchup. It's really nice because we use ingredients that are already in the restaurant."
French fries on a sandwich is a whopper of a concept.
"I think it's a fantastic idea," says a customer. "We need something new in Pittsburgh."
But it's not really new.
Primanti Bros. restaurant has been making sandwiches heaped with fries for decades. Primanti's fans consider it a multi-layered masterpiece that cannot be matched.
"I think they're trying to take a tradition from Pittsburgh and make it their own," a young patron says.
But at Burger King, customers say otherwise.
"Extra carbs, man," says a customer. "That's always a winner."
So where did the idea come from?
"This is something that's nationwide, and who knows? Maybe we got the idea from Pittsburgh!" Mazza said.
A French fry fan enjoying his Fry Burger says it doesn't really matter.
As he put it, "Can't go wrong with putting fries on anything."
What do you think about Burger King's new french fry burger? Is it infringing on Primantis?
