Bucs: Pirates Slam Orioles, 11-5
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — The Pirates (4-7) scored four runs in the second inning, three in the fifth and four more in the seventh to beat the Baltimore Orioles Wednesday, 11-5.
Pirates starter James McDonald pitched three innings, allowing five runs on six hits — two of which were home runs by J.J. Hardy and Mark Reynolds.
Pirates outfielder Alex Presley went 2-for-4 from the leadoff spot with two RBIs. Second baseman Neil Walker went 2-for-3 and scored two runs, and first baseman Garrett Jones went 2-for-2 with a double.
Closer Joel Hanrahan pitched another scoreless inning with two strikeouts. He has struck out six of the nine batters he's faced so far this spring.
Reliever Evan Meek pitched a 1-2-3 inning as well, striking out one batter.
The Pirates play Minnesota Thursday.
