Bruce Feldman Says James Franklin Frontrunner for PSU Job, But Has Options
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - CBS Sports Columnist Bruce Feldman broke the news earlier today that Vanderbilt Head Coach James Franklin has emerged as the frontrunner to replace Bill O'Brien at Penn State. He then joined Starkey and Mueller on The FAN to tell us whether or not he'd accept the job if offered.
"I think he's going to have some options," said Feldman. "I know they're committed to him, it's just a question of here, is this the route that I think he wants to go. From what I was told an hour ago, Penn State hasn't offered the job to anybody."
Feldman also took a look at the Penn State job as a whole and how attractive it is right now compared to the other top coaching positions at the college level.
"I don't think it's a top 15 job. From a facility standpoint Penn State is outstanding. From a history standpoint, also outstanding. From a commitment from the fans and that support, and stuff like that does matter, I mean when you see what they can do and fill in a great stadium that is impressive. Now from a recruiting base, Pennsylvania is a good state, it's not Florida, or Texas or California."
Things wrapped up with Feldman telling us why he expects Penn State to name their next head coach by Sunday.
