Brother's Brother Shipping Supplies To Oklahoma Tornado Victims
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - People all across the country are doing everything they can to help Oklahoma recover from the devastation of one of the worst tornadoes ever recorded.
One local organization is sending much-needed supplies to the tornado victims.
Their missions of mercy have spanned the globe.
"We work in Central America and the Caribbean. We work in a number of countries in Africa. We work in some countries in South America," Liam Carstens with Brother's Brother said. "The items we're sending today are baby items, food, cleaning supplies, blankets, those types of things. Those truck are leaving today to go to Oklahoma City."
The 55-year-old North Side based relief agency put out the call early Tuesday morning for donations and medical supplies to help the victims of the killer tornadoes in Oklahoma.
"It can be all types of supplies. If you can imagine a place where the storage of the medical supplies have been damaged, there could be all different types of needs that we see there," Carstens said.
The agency's warehouse saw forklifts moving those much-needed medical relief items into position this morning. But, three trucks filled with supplies have already been dispatched.
Brother's Brother is working with a charity in Virginia called Gleaning For The World. As the morning went on medical donations showed up from the Salvation Army.
"Syringes, gauze, gloves, hopefully medical supplies that will be able to help the relief," Christopher Scabora with the Salvation Army said.
Donations gathered are expected to leave for Oklahoma in the next three days.

Locally, Brother's Brother Foundation is working to send three tractor-trailers of relief supplies, including blankets, water, shoes and more to the Church of the Harvest in Oklahoma City.
