Brookline Burglary Suspect Arrested
BROOKLINE (KDKA) – Police have arrested a man in connection with a burglary at a home in Brookline earlier this week.
The burglary happened on Sunday in the 1400-block of Bellaire Place.
The homeowner was not home at the time, but her surveillance system captured photographs of the suspect in her home.
"In 20 years, I've never seen it before happen in burglaries where a person got an email alert that somebody was in their house and then an email photograph," Pittsburgh Police Commander Scott Schubert said.
After two previous break-ins, the homeowner bought the system online. When it happened a third time, she was ready.
"She called it in as burglary in progress," Schubert said. "Our officers got there."
By that time, the intruder was gone, but the homeowner gave police the pictures.
"And it was a known person and they quickly went to his house a block away and made the arrest," Schubert said.
The suspect has been identified as Raymond Walsh, 50, of Brookline.
He's charged with criminal trespass. Police are also trying to link him to the earlier burglaries in October and November by blood traces left at the scene.
