Part Of Parkway West Reopens In Robinson Twp. After Car Carrier Strikes Bridge
ROBINSON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Part of the Parkway West was shut down Tuesday morning in Robinson Township after a major bridge that carries traffic across the area was struck by a car carrier.
According to PennDOT, the westbound side of the Parkway West was shut down at the Route 22/60 Bridge.
⚠️Westbound I-376 motorists will exit at the Crafton (Exit 60B) off-ramp, to avoid the closure, turn left onto Campbells Run Road, turn left onto Route 60 (Steubenville Pike), and turn right onto the ramp to westbound I-376 toward the Airport.

That area of the road reopened around 11 a.m. Officials with PennDOT say bridge inspectors were called to the scene to check over the span.

State police say a car carrier that was too tall tried to go under the bridge.
Combined with the snow, there was the potential for hazardous conditions, but Public Works Director Mike Gable says crews were prepared and had salted the roads.

"We did advise the crews after the rain to start putting salt down," Gable said.
"So they have been salting streets, because eventually it's going to get a little colder and all of this wet is going to get a little bit slippy or icy so hopefully we'll get all our streets treated today and through the day. But we're going to have these little lake effect squalls coming through so we're just going to have to deal with it for now."
