Breaking Down Potential Steeler Draft Picks
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - With several glaring needs on the defensive side of the ball and a few on the offensive side of the ball, Kirk Larrabee of 24/7 Sports has taken a look at which players in the NFL Draft could help fill some of those voids for the Steelers.
To no real surprise, the first position Larrabee examines is cornerback and who may be on the board when the Steelers are ready to pick with the 22nd overall selection in the first round. Larrabee calls this position a "very high" priority for the Steelers to address.
Michigan State cornerback Trae Waynes is listed as the top prospect at the position and many mock drafts, including the one here, have the Steelers taking him.
The second priority Larrabee lists for the Steelers is outside linebacker but says the problem with trying to address that position in this draft is that many of the top players will be off the board by the time it gets to the Steelers pick.
Other positions Larrabee lists as priorities are Safety, Tight End and Running Back but adds that the priority at running back is low despite needing a backup to Le'Veon Bell given that he has shown he's able to carry the load on his own.
The NFL Draft takes place from April 30 to May 2 from the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago.
