Boy, 4, Credited With Saving Grandmother's Life
LAWRENCEVILLE (KDKA) - When a 4-year-old's grandmother was in trouble, his parents said rather than panic, the boy called 911.
"I said, 'I need an ambulance for my nana,'" Raymond Levy said. "She just rolled off the couch, and I told them the address."
Raymond was alone with his grandmother Tuesday morning in Lawrenceville. Her family said Patricia Coulehan has some medical issues, and doctors are trying to determine what happened.
They said she is in the intensive care unit at UPMC Shadyside and her son believes her grandson may have saved her life.
"When I got there, the cop was like, 'You need to be so proud of him,'" Scott Levy said. "He's the one who called 911. You need to be very proud of that kid."
Levy said he's grateful that they had taught Raymond the address and how to call 911.
"He saved my mother's life. A 4-year-old," Scott said.
Raymond explained that his grandmother told him to call.
"She rolled off the couch, and she told me to pick up the phone and call 911," Raymond said.
Scott Levy said his mother lost consciousness and even stopped breathing at one point.
Raymond is rather nonchalant about calling for help. He said Batman would have done the same thing in an emergency.
