Bomb Squad Incidents Create Morning Traffic Jam Downtown
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- It was one big traffic mess for commuters in downtown Pittsburgh this morning after two incidents involving the Allegheny County Bomb Squad.
Crews have now reopened Grant Street between 6th and 7th Streets as well as Smithfield Street after the bomb squad was called in to investigate reports of suspicious packages at those locations.
Just before 9 a.m., KDKA Traffic & Transportation reporter Jim Lokay reported that traffic was beginning to thin in the downtown area.
The incidents also created delays on the Parkway East and the Parkway West.
According to initial reports, one of the packages was found near the federal courthouse downtown earlier this morning.
Stay with KDKA for the latest details.
