Bridgeville Neighborhood Evacuated Due To Man's Suicide Plot
BRIDGEVILLE (KDKA) - A Bridgeville neighborhood was evacuated after authorities learned of a man's plan to commit suicide Tuesday morning.
Residents on New York Circle were evacuated after a man threatened to blow up his house by filling it with some type of gas.
The man, 61-year-old Charles Krohn, left notes for his wife to warn her about the potential danger.
A robot was used to check the house and no deadly gases were found still active but investigators did find Krohn's body in the shower – an apparent suicide – overcome with fumes.
This morning, his wife found a note on the bathroom door which read, "Do not turn on lights. May explode."
She called 911 and emergency crews began surrounding the home around 8:15 a.m.
On Sept. 12, Krohn was arrested for building some kind of gas chamber in his garage.
In addition, the FBI had been to the neighborhood to speak with other residents about Krohn several times.
According to police, Krohn was the subject of an investigation, but details have not been released.
Krohn's wife is currently being cared for by neighbors.
