Police Investigating After Body Found In Vacant Lot In Washington

By: Shelley Bortz

WASHINGTON, Pa. (KDKA) - The search continues for the killer of an 18-year-old man after police say he was shot and left for dead in a vacant lot in the City of Washington.

The woman who found the body, a mother herself, said it's a sight she'll never forget.

"This was somebody's child laying the yard next to me," Monica Scott said.

It was around 9:15 a.m. Sunday when Scott let her dogs outside and she said they would not stop barking so she went upstairs to look out the window.

There, she saw what she believed to be a body in the vacant lot next to her home.

"I'm completely blind without my contacts so I wasn't sure I called my neighbor down the street and she came down," she recalled.

Scott said her neighbor looked from the sidewalk but wasn't sure it was a body, so she immediately called 911.

Once the City of Washington Police got to Seminole Avenue, they confirmed it was the body of an 18-year-old man.

The coroner has identified the victim as Connor Brock.

"I don't even know how to tell you how I felt, there are no words to tell you how I felt," Scott said.

Police say the victim was found with a gunshot wound but and believe he was shot sometime Saturday night.

Scott said she and other neighbors heard what sounded like fireworks on Saturday night around 10:30.

"It was a boom, it was a boom like it could have been a firework but obviously it wasn't," she said.

Police have no suspects at this time and ask anyone with information to give them a call.
