Bob Errey: Penguins Lack Emotion, Defense
PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - The stunned Pittsburgh Penguins head to Boston for Game 3, and Root Sports Penguins analyst Bob Errey offers his analysis with Vinnie & Cook on Sportsradio 93.7 The Fan.
Errey doesn't hold back his thoughts on Sidney Crosby's struggles, and where they may be coming from.
"I think somebody had a conversation with him and said to taper it down after Game 1," Errey said. "I think he tapered it down way too much and played with no emotion in Game 2. I looked at his face in Game 2, and there wasn't anything there. You don't like to see that."
"You've got to play this game with emotion. You cannot be a faceless guy out there. Some guys can get away with that, maybe a Henrik Zetterberg. But when you're a Sidney Crosby, an Evgeni Malkin, the way this team is made up you've gotta be in your opponent's face. If you don't have that, you're not going to be successful in hockey."
As the series switches to Boston, Errey reveals the adjustments he would like to see the Penguins make.
"They're going to have to start banging Zdeno Chara the way they have in the past. They've chopped this guy down. They have to get in there and attack the good players of the Boston Bruins and see how they react. Get back to your gameplan."
Errey also reveals whom he thinks should start in goal for Pittsburgh in Game 3, wonders where Tyler Kennedy is, and implores the leaders to step up.
