Blake Comeau Wants To Resurrect Offensive Game In Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – Winger Blake Comeau joined "The Fan Morning Show" Wednesday with his Penguins debut just a day away.
Comeau thinks Pittsburgh will be a good place for him to work on getting his offensive game back on track after scoring just 16 goals since his 24 goal campaign in 2010-11.
"[Mike Johnston] wants a puck possession team that makes plays, and I think that's a strength of mine, my poise with the puck and my shot. Coming to Pittsburgh, there are so many great players throughout the organization to play with that hopefully, I can get back to my offensive ways and still continue to play the physical way that I have over the past few years," Comeau said.
Comeau said Johnston's system is meticulous.
"With Mike, I think that there's a reason for every play that you make," Comeau said. "He doesn't want you just to get to the red line and dump it in for no reason and go try and chase and get it."
He also talked about what he likes about Johnston as a man.
"When you see him around the locker room, he's not afraid to say hello and ask how things are going and talk with the players," Comeau said. "I've played with other coaches that are very standoffish and don't really have the relationship with any of the players. So, it's nice to see that Mike wants to get to know everybody not just on a hockey basis, but on a personal level."
