B-PEP Calls For 'Concrete Action' After Recent University Of Pittsburgh Research Project
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The Black Political Empowerment Project responded to a recent University of Pittsburgh research project.
Tim Stevens, the chairman and CEO addressed the study, which found that Pittsburgh lags behind other cities when it comes to opportunities for African Americans.
He says it also found that black women in Pittsburgh face higher rates of maternal mortality and poverty and lower rates of employment and college readiness.
Stevens says the report has "troubling statistics."
Additionally, he says the research found a disparity in earning potential.
Stevens closed his remarks by saying "the time for committed, meaningful and concrete action is upon us. Pittsburgh awaits that action and so does the nation."
