Bishop Zubik Wants New Pope To Have A Strong Conviction
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The Catholic cardinals met today in the Vatican to begin deciding who should be Pope Benedict XVI's successor.
Pittsburgh Bishop David Zubik is just back from Rome where he witnessed Benedict's final days as pope.
Bishop Zubik said there are some qualities he would like to see in the new leader of the Catholic Church.
"I think the person who has to be elected has to know his stuff. And not just the traditions and the teachings of the Church, but I think [he has to] know the issues that we're faced with in the world and try to be able to address those," Bishop Zubik said.
Bishop Zubik said it doesn't matter what part of the world the next pope comes from. He just hopes the cardinals pick someone with a good personality and a strong conviction.
