Birth Of Liriano's Daughter Leads To Pirates Rotation Change
PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)-A new baby being born into the Liriano home has led to another player making his major league start.
Francisco Liriano on Thursday returned to his Dominican Republic home for the birth of his daughter Natalie.
That has led to Casey Sadler being recalled from Indianapolis to make his first Major League start against the Brewers on Sunday.
Sadler began the year with the Pirates Triple-A affiliate in Indianapolis, whose international league season did not begin until Thursday. Sadler has not pitched yet for the Indians.
This spring for the Pirates, Sadler appeared in four exhibition games, starting three. He allowed three runs in 8 1/3 innings, with eight strikeouts and a pair of walks.
Sadler made his big league debut last season for the Pirates, working in six relief appearances, allowing 12 hits and nine runs in 10 1/3 innings.
Liriano is expected to return to the Pirates rotation on Wednesday next week against the Detroit Tigers at PNC Park.
