Bill Cowher Previews Steelers-Broncos
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) -- Bill Cowher joined Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN to help get a closer look at how the Steelers match up with the Denver Broncos as the two teams prepare to meet this weekend in the first round of the playoffs.
We opened things up with Cowher getting his thoughts on Hines Ward, and how he feels about seeing him reach career milestones this year after coaching him for a large part of his time in the NFL.
With Ben revealing that he had a setback in the Browns game with his high ankle sprain, we asked Cowher whether or not playing Ben in the season finale was the right move.
While previewing the first round matchup between the Steelers and Broncos, Cowher said the key to the game is on the defensive side of the ball for Denver because their goal is to keep the game close and give themselves a chance to win it late. On the flip side of things, it's important for the Steelers to get back in sync and get Ben going early to ensure the Broncos can't keep it close.
Cowher also weighed in on the loss of Rashard Mendenhall and how much it hurts the Steelers, but added he really likes Isaac Redman and is anxious to see what he can do as long as he can hold on to the ball this week.
We wrapped things up with Cowher getting his thoughts on coaching in the NFL and what it's like for coaches taking new jobs with the expectation to win right away.
