Bill Cowher Previews Steeler Game, Addresses Coaching Rumors
PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) - Former Steelers head coach and current football analyst Bill Cowher joined The Bob Pompeani Show on 93-7 THE FAN Saturday to discuss the Steelers-Patriots rivalry and other happenings in the NFL.
However, before getting into his analysis of this weekend's Pittsburgh-New England matchup, Cowher addressed the latest coaching rumors swirling around him and the Miami Dolphins.
It seems Cowher's name simply will not go away whenever there is a coaching vacancy or one rumored to be, and the Dolphins could possibly make a coaching change after what has become a miserable season for them.
While Cowher didn't get into specifics, he did tell Pompeani that he soon plans to address the matter.
"I do like where I'm at, and as a matter of fact, I'm going to make a statement [Sunday] in regards to all this on the CBS pre-game show," he said. "So, all the viewers and yourself can tune in and I'll address all those issues tomorrow."
After that was out of the way, Cowher broke down Sunday's showdown between the Steelers and rival New England Patriots at Heinz Field.
"I think it's a great match up, maybe the best two teams in the AFC, and there may be a lot of playoff implications in terms of home field in regards to the results of this game," Cowher said.

The former Steelers head coach is very familiar with the rivalry and stressed patience as a key against Tom Brady and the Patriots.
"A lot of these games come down to turnovers," explained Cowher. "I think, Ben, take care of the football, be patient. I know you look at their defense and you're going to want to exploit it and I think they will, but the other side of it is, you know, if you do things methodically, it also keeps their offense off the field."
In addition to patience, Cowher also talked about discipline as an important factor for the Steelers.
"I think you have to be very disciplined against them and not get impatient because of the pitch and catch that [Brady] has with Hernandez and Gronkowski and Welker, all those throws inside the numbers. You tackle it, and you line up and you go again because you have an offense that can match their scores."
Cowher also talked about the Steelers' group of wide receivers as well as the popularity of the Denver Broncos' Tim Tebow and the new contract for Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.
