The increasingly popular show "Dancing With The Stars" has created a revival in the love of ballroom dance, including the exciting, fast-paced swing dance. This interest has resulted in an increase in the number of social dances and swing dance clubs popping up throughout the Pittsburgh region. Fortunately, you don't have to be a professional to show off your swing steps. Classes and casual dance nights are a casual and affordable way to get in on the fun with your friends, meet fellow swing dance fans, improve your dancing abilities and build confidence. Put on your dancing shoes and get ready to practice your pivots, two-handed figures and swing kicks at these swing dance clubs considered a favorite in Pittsburgh.

Saturday night is swing dance night at Bobby D's Swing City! Put on your dancing shoes, your favorite 50's-inspired clothing, and get ready to show off your best steps during its three-hour dance held Saturday nights from 9 p.m. to midnight. Admission is $11 and includes the dance as well as beginner lessons for interested dancers starting at 8 p.m. Bobby D's Swing City dances are great for dancers of all ages. The dances are held in the Wightman School Community Building in Squirrel Hill.

College-aged students will love the swing dance opportunities available through the student-run Tartan and Panther Swing group. Social dance classes are a casual and fun way to brush up on your skills, whether you're a beginner or a seasoned swing dancer. Classes and social dances are held every Thursday night at 7:30 p.m., and there are several other classes including Lindy Hop lessons on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. University of Pittsburgh. Carnegie Mellon University students are encouraged to join in the fun with swing and blues dancing in Rangos Ballroom, located at Carnegie Mellon University.

Show off your swing steps at Pittsburgh West Coast Swing social dances. Come alone or bring a friend and enjoy music and group classes, practices and social dancing for just $10 at the door. Tuesdays are devoted to its West Coast Swing dances, which features group classes devoted to improving technique, skills, patterns and basics at 7:30 p.m., followed by social dancing from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. All Pittsburgh West Coast Swing events and dances are held at Absolute Ballroom, located in Pittsburgh's East End.

Grab your partner and get ready to practice your timing, technique and teamwork at the Edgewood Club Swing Dances. Dances are held on the second Sunday of the month from September to May with hour-long lessons from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. immediately followed by its social dance until 10:30 p.m. Both singles and couples are welcome to attend at $12 or $6 for students with a valid student ID. The Edgewood Club is located on Pennwood Avenue in the city's Edgewood neighborhood.
