Best Breakfast Sandwiches In Pittsburgh

Breakfast sandwiches are amazing morning, noon or night and are a brilliant way of delivering all of your favorite breakfast food in a neat little package. Fortunately for you, dear reader, you're no longer relegated to the McDonald's McMuffin if you try out one of the fabulous picks mentioned in this best-of list.

Bluebird Kitchen
221 Forbes Ave.
Pittsburgh, PA 15222
(412) 642-4414
www.bluebirdkitchen.com

Looking to get a little edgy with your breakfast? Try Bluebird Kitchen's house-cured salmon, cucumber, cream cheese and oven-dried tomato on a house bagel. The options do not stop there, however, with Bluebird's outstanding list of locally-sourced ingredients. The breads and bacon are house made, and the eggs are straight from Penn's Corner Farm Alliance. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., so if you're a weekend breakfast hero, make sure to carve a little time out of your week to stop at this exquisite little bistro.

Pamela's
3703 Forbes Ave.
Pittsburgh, PA 15213
(412) 683-4066
www.pamelasdiner.com

Sure, a run-of-the-mill egg-and-cheese sandwich with your choice of sausage, ham or bacon sounds like a big yawn, right? Not the way Pamela's serves it. Your egg comes crispy, right off the griddle, your cheese is molten hot and be sure to ask your server to specialize it for you. This way may not be on the menu, but the kitchen staff at Pamela's is always happy to entertain its customer's whims, and will serve your sandwich on toast, a croissant or even a waffle.

Dor-Stop Restaurant
1430 Potomac Ave.
Pittsburgh, PA 15216
(412) 561-9320
www.dorstoprestaurant.com

If the Food Network show "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" filming here isn't enough incentive to visit this piece of Pittsburgh history, the food certainly will be. If you're in the market for a tasty breakfast sandwich, check out the eggs burrito or the old diner breakfast sandwich, both of which are made with the fluffiest, dreamiest scramble and come with crispy, golden french fries, home fries or shredded taters. The down-home atmosphere puts the metaphorical cherry on top of this dining experience. If you don't have time to sit and enjoy, takeout is available.

A salmon, caper and cream cheese breakfast sandwich? Find it here. Consistently churning out delicious, artisan-inspired foods, always attentive and award-winning chef and owner Ray Mikesell knows how to make an unforgettable breakfast (and brunch). Visit this tiny little gem, nearly hidden in the Strip, but be aware of the hours. Cafe Raymond is closed on Mondays, and only operates until 2:30 p.m. on weekdays (until 3 p.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, respectively).

Eggs-R-Us
2350 Noblestown Road, Suite 13
Pittsburgh, PA 15205
(412) 922-5828
www.facebook.com/Eggs-R-Us

The name implies that this restaurant knows a lot about the fine art of breakfast making, and your assumption would be incorrect. Eggs' breakfast sandwich is wholly satisfying, made with two super-fresh eggs, toasty Italian bread, cheese and your choice of meat - including sweet sausage. If you add home fries or hash browns, your total will only come to a little over $6, which isn't bad for a belly full of warm yummies.
