It's Valentine's Day and what is there to do in Pittsburgh? Many events are available throughout Pittsburgh ranging from theatrical to patriotic to romantic activities. For the romantics, the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre is showcasing "Beauty and the Beast" to get lost in the timeless enchanting tale, or skate under the starts at Schenley Park. For the patriot, Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall is hosting the play "Tell It to the Marines: A Play for the Time at Hand." For the trendsetters, check out the band that is gaining momentum at Mr. Smalls Theatre. For action and trucks, the Monster Truck Jam is in town.

The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre premieres "Beauty and the Beast" on February 6 at the Benedum Center. While wandering in the enchanted forest, Belle is given a red rose which upsets the Beast. He banishes her father from the kingdom and captures Belle. As the story develops, a love story also blossoms. There is a showtime on Valentine's Day at 8 p.m. and it is suitable for all ages. The run time for the show is one hour and 45 minutes.

The play is set in 2007 and portrays the effect of the war in Iraq and the growing of governmental trust on five characters within a family. The main character is a 30-year retired marine, along with his two sons (also marines), his wife and a twin brother (retired marine and current priest). The play is three acts, and is expected to last approximately two hours. The writer of the play is Samuel Hazo and he is also the founder and director of the International Poetry Forum in Pittsburgh and taught at Duquesne University for 43 years.

UPMC Health Plan is sponsoring this Valentine's Day 2015 adults-only ice skating event. The Schenley Park ice rink will host a romantic evening for couples from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Romance will fill the air at the Schenley Park Skating Rink at "Valentines on Ice." The tickets are two for one ($4 per couple), and assorted chocolates will be given to the first 300 couples.

The indie/pop/rock band's tour stops in Millvale on Valentine's Day at Mr. Small's Funhouse. Jukebox The Ghost's new self-titled album "Jukebox the Ghost" is out now. Band members include Ben Thornewill on piano and vocals, Tommy Siegel on guitar and vocals and Jesse Kristin on drums and vocals. Their hometown is in Washington, D.C., and they were featured in Rolling Stone in May 2014.
