Ben Roethlisberger Wins Chief Award
PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) - Call it the year of the new Ben Roethlisberger. On Wednesday, Roethlisberger was voted the Chief Award winner. The award is presented to a Steeler for media cooperation.
The award is voted upon by members of the Pro Football Writers of America and is named in honor of the late Art Rooney Sr., who founded the Steelers in 1933.
This was one award that Roethlisberger did not expect to win.
Since Roethlisberger's suspension at the beginning of the year for his off-field behavior, he has tried to work on improving his image and relationship with the writers and reporters.
Another reason Roethlisberger might have been surprised, is this was the first time in the award's 23-year history that a quarterback has been chosen.
