Ben Roethlisberger Talks Football Camp, NFL Lockout
CRANBERRY (KDKA) -- Ben Roethlisberger was joined by several Steelers teammates on Monday, including Charlie Batch and Willie Colon – and even Mike Tomlin made a quick guest appearance – at the Ben Roethlisberger Football Camp.
"It's fun. I enjoy doing this every year just because I get to come out and be a kid again and remember what it's like," Roethlisberger said. "I didn't really have the opportunity to do this as a kid, so I try and make it the best and the best experience I can for these guys."
This event draws hundreds of kids from around the area, and beyond, from as far away as California and even Cleveland. They're all just trying to hang out with No. 7 and maybe even catch a pass or two.
"It's fun and that's why I really enjoy the 7-on-7 part of it because I can pick out who are the better ones on the team and you know they can catch a lot of these passes," Roethlisberger said, "but to me, I try and throw it to the ones that maybe will enjoy a little bit more and I try to get them a touchdown."
"It just means a little more to them and to me, I just love it," he continued.
As far as Ben's future summer plans, he didn't want to talk about his upcoming nuptials and we'll have to wait and see if they involve training camp and preseason football.
"The fans want us to play and we want to play," Roethlisberger said. "I have all the confidence in the world that both sides and the pros on both sides will get it done."
