Ben Roethlisberger Show: London Trip May Be What Steelers Need
PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - The Pittsburgh Steelers get ready to face the Minnesota Vikings, and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger updates all the latest with the black & gold with Vinnie & Cook on Sportsradio 93.7 The Fan.
Sunday's game will be played in London, and Roethlisberger looks forward to the challenge.
"Maybe it's just the change we need," Roethlisberger said. "There are genuine football and Steeler fans over there. To me, it was a great experience to go over there and bring that back to the guys and say, 'It's more than just a money thing for the NFL. We actually have a lot of fans over there.' Which is crazy. It is neat that we're going to go over there and show these fans what Steeler football is all about."
Even though the Steelers are 0-3, "the sun came up today," Roethlisberger said. "We've lost our first three games. There's still 13 games left. If you're gonna lose three games, you'd better lose them early. There is no panic. We just keep moving on."
Ben reveals the message he sent to his young offensive line as they try to improve.
"I need them to have a confidence and a cockiness about themselves," he said. "Everyone is talking bad about them, but you know what? They're here for a reason. They were the best ones on their college teams, they got drafted high. They need to go out there and play with a confidence and an attitude that (says), 'You know what? I'm the baddest guy out here."
Roethlisberger isn't ready to declare that RB Le'Veon Bell is ready to play, contrary to some NFL reports from Tuesday morning. He admits, "you can't get a read on him. One day he's practicing, one day he's not. One day he's going hard, one day he's not. I wish I could (tell you) if he was a guy like Heath Miller who you knew was busting his butt every day to get back there."
Ben also reveals how the offense improved in a loss to Chicago, explains why the veterans changed the rules of the locker room, and explains why having an NFL franchise in London may not be a good idea. Hear the entire interview below!
