Ben Roethlisberger, Knee Feels Great
It's been six days since Ben Roethlisberger had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and he says he is feeling much better.
"It feels great, I saw doctor Bradley this morning, he was pleasantly surprised with the range of motion and where were at with the swelling." Roethlisberger said. "I've been off crutches for a couple days now and moving around good and I think I could play Sunday if I had to."
The surgery only required cleaning up wear and tear that was causing discomfort during his training and no repairs were necessary. The surgery was very similar to a procedure he underwent on the same knee after it was injured in a game at San Diego on Oct. 10, 2005.
"We wanted to try and see if we could manage, I would come in on Tuesday and practice and it would feel good and by Thursday it was almost like a flat tire, it was slowly losing air," Roethlisberger said. "It kind of hurt me on Thursday so we figured it was time to get it done and doctors agreed."
Roethlisberger participated in all of the spring practices until his surgery on June 5th but he will not participate in minicamp practices this week.
"I'll be here to support the quarterbacks and the offense and coaches and just whatever I can do to add moral support," Roethlisberger said.
He is expected to be ready for Day 1 of Steelers Training Camp on July 26th.
