SWAT Called To Beechview Home After Alleged Kidnapping, Police Continue Search For Suspect

BEECHVIEW (KDKA) -- SWAT was called to a Beechview home Tuesday afternoon after a woman was allegedly kidnapped.
A Pittsburgh Police spokesperson said the incident started around 2:30 p.m.

A woman told police she was picked up in South Park by a family acquaintance. That man allegedly kidnapped her and drove her to various locations throughout the city. At one point, the man allegedly gave her a bottle of water, and the woman became ill after drinking from it.
They eventually ended up on Beechview Avenue.
The man went inside a home near Wentworth Avenue and the woman called police from the car.
The man was believed to have barricaded himself in the home with a gun, and police, medics and SWAT were called to the scene.
Police did not find anyone inside the home.
The woman was sent to the hospital. Her condition is unknown.
Pittsburgh Police are searching for a white man with longer hair.
Three schools in the area -- Pittsburgh Brashear High School, Pittsburgh South Hills 6-8, and Pittsburgh Beechwood PreK-5 -- were placed on lockdown while police were on the scene. The lockdowns were lifted at 5 p.m.
The woman who rents the home police had surrounded was not there at the time of the SWAT situation.
Shauna Scudder lives at the Beechview home with her 5-year-old son. When she arrived home, the SWAT team was already gone and she thought her house was broken into.
"Nobody notified me that something happened in my home. Every single room, my bathroom, every single room is completely torn up," said Scudder.
A police detective returned to Scudder's home about an hour after she called police. She was told a patrolman was supposed to stick around until she arrived.
City officials told her she will be reimbursed for any repairs needed.
"If I wasn't in this neighborhood, things would've been handled a little differently. I'm sorry, but the City of Pittsburgh has a serious issue with classism," said Scudder.
