BEDFORD DWELLINGS (KDKA) -- A man was taken into custody Tuesday night after allegedly holding a woman and child against their will in a Bedford Dwellings apartment.
Police officers and a Pittsburgh SWAT unit were called to an apartment building on Bedford Avenue near Kirkpatrick Street just after 9 p.m. for a report of a domestic violence situation.
According to police, 22-year-old Adrian Rosser and his brother, Marquis, began fighting inside an apartment. Marquis met officers and said his brother Adrian hadn't been paying rent and he wanted him out. He was trying to kick him out when things turned physical.
Marquis told officers he was upset because his girlfriend and her child were still inside the apartment.
After hours of negotiating, Adrian let the woman and her 7-year-old son out of the apartment. He surrendered to the SWAT team after that.
Adrian blamed his brother and said he had been staying there for three weeks. Hesaid his brother developed a drug habit during that time and had become increasingly aggressive.
Adrian claimed his brother wanted money for drugs, not rent, which is why he refused.
No significant injuries were reported.
Both brothers now face assault charges and Adrian faces additional charges for locking the woman and young child in the apartment against their will.
