Beaver Falls Municipal Authority Fixes Water Main, But System Still Not 100 Percent

BEAVER FALLS (KDKA) -- It will be several days before the Beaver Falls Municipal Authority's water system is running at 100 percent.

Crews in Beaver County raced to repair a broken water main that prompted an early morning water conservation advisory to about 10,000 customers.

The rupture was discovered around 2 a.m. on Saturday in a 16-inch main at authority's Eastvale Plant.

Early this afternoon, Distribution Superintendent Sam Aloi told KDKA's Kym Gable, "Problem is, it's our main line that feeds into our system, so actually, the whole plant was shut down for three or four hours. We got the Upper Valley half on line. The other half is in a pretty crucial spot right now."

But as of 3:15 p.m. Saturday, the repair had been made and the system was back up and running.

However, it will take a few days to restore full function.

Stay with KDKA for the latest on this developing story.
