Beaver County Father Facing Aggravated Assault Charges
ROCHESTER (KDKA) -- Police say a fight over money to buy cigarettes escalated to a Beaver County father allegedly punching his 14-month-old daughter.
According to authorities, a 6-year-old child was also punched and their mother was choked.
Darren Finch, 35, of Rochester, is now charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment in connection with the incident. He's now in jail.
According to the criminal complaint, the assault happened last Thursday, Jan. 3 after 2 a.m.
Investigators say Finch reportedly asked his wife, identified as Jeannette Northington, for cigarette money.
According to court documents, she was thrown around their Connecticut Avenue home and choked almost to the point that she passed out.
Investigators say when Finch reportedly tried to punch his wife in the stomach while she was holding their 14-month-old daughter; he hit the child two times in the nose and on top of her head.
Police found blood on the baby's bib when they responded.
When Northington's 6-year-old tried to intervene, Finch punched her in the mouth.
Finch is in the Beaver County Jail on $10,000 straight bond.
