Beaver County Couple Arrested For Child Abuse
BEAVER COUNTY (KDKA) – The parents of a 13-month-old boy were arrested on child abuse charges after the boy allegedly had broken bones, and a skull fracture.
Police say 21-year-old Amanda Riley, and 20-year-old Christian Evans -- the baby's parents -- have been charged with hurting the young boy.
Police say they went to Evans' home on Vermont Avenue in Rochester to do a welfare check, and the father insisted the baby was fine.
They found the baby had multiple fractures, a swollen face, head and arm, as well as an advanced infection.
The mother allegedly told officials the child broke 10 bones from falling out of a stroller.
"The scene showed that the baby wasn't being taken care of," said Rochester Police Chief Frank Mercier. "And found multiple bruises, contusions and swelling all over the baby's body. We have no idea why all this was going on."
The baby was in serious condition with two broken femurs, two broken ankles, two broken arms, two fractured wrists and head trauma.
Police believe the baby's mother inflicted most of the injuries, possibly over a three-week period.
The boy has been taken to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh where he is reportedly in critical condition.
Two other adults, Riley's boyfriend 26-year-old Nicholas Hrvoich and his mother 59-year-old Kimberly, are also charged for not seeking medical attention for the boy.
The parents will be arraigned Monday afternoon.
