Beaver Co. Police Shooting Suspect Found Guilty
MONACA (KDKA) - An Aliquippa man has been convicted of attempted murder for a shooting that wounded a Beaver County Police officer.
Damontae Williams was found guilty Thursday morning on 16 counts, including attempt to commit criminal homicide and assault on a law enforcement officer.
Investigators said he shot Monaca Police Officer Alan Shaffer in the leg during a pursuit.
The incident started when Williams allegedly robbed a cricket store in nearby Centre Township and drove to Monaca. Shaffer saw a car that matched the description and tried to stop it, but the driver kept going.
Shaffer chased Williams into a CoGo parking lot and knocked him over with the police cruiser. During the chase, Williams allegedly pulled out a gun and shot at the officer, but surrendered after Shaffer fired back.
