Beaver Co. Paramedic Accused Of Assaulting Patient's Girlfriend
BEAVER (KDKA) -- A Beaver County paramedic is facing charges in connection with the alleged assault of a woman while responding to a 911 call.
Anthony Barnes, 29, of New Brighton, is accused of exposing himself to the woman in an ambulance.
According to the criminal complaint, the alleged incident happened Saturday when Barnes was responding to a call for a man having an anxiety attack in Baden.
The criminal complaint reports that after tending to her boyfriend, the woman told police Barnes asked her to come to the ambulance to provide some information.
"The weather's been cold, so he had taken her inside the back of the ambulance," said Sgt. David Alvarez.
The woman told police Barnes alleged made advances to her, exposed himself, pushed her onto a gurney in the back of the ambulance and fondled her, the criminal complaint reports.
"He said that he had touched the sides of her, or basically groped her," Sgt. Alvarez said.
According to the criminal complaint, the woman told investigators she was able to escape when another vehicle drove past the ambulance.
Barnes was questioned by police.
The criminal complaint reports Barnes told police the woman made sexual advances toward him.
Barnes is charged with indecent assault and indecent exposure.
He was a six-year employee at Medic Rescue in Beaver County and became a paramedic in 2011.
Medic Rescue released this statement:
"Mr. Barnes resigned his position. We are sympathetic to the victim. We have not had an incident like this in 35 years."
